Subject of course

The following main topics will be covered in the lecture: The mediation of problem-solving strategies for the implementation of innovative planning software for residential buildings. The teaching of a basic understanding of the different fields of activity and technical terminology.

Topic 2021S: Parametric housing generators - functionality and potentials

The course includes 3 lectures on the topics:

  • eva-Tool (Martin Haller - Caramel & SWAP)
  • Prototyp Wohnbau-Generator (University of Waterloo - Christopher Rausch)
  • Informationsextraktion aus Rechtstexten mit Natural Language Processing (Allan Hanbury - TU Wien)

Teaching methods

In this course the expertise of specialist planners will provide insights into the practical implementation of complex projects from the perspective of renowned companies, engineers and planning offices, and lay the foundation for an understanding of the other discipline. An introduction to different topics will be given and the knowledge will be discussed by means of case studies.

Examination modalities

You must fulfill the following conditions to pass the course with a positive grade:

  • Attendance at the lectures.
  • Create essays for each of the three lectures.

These papers must include:

  • A cover sheet with name and matriculation number
  • Summary of the presented contents (at least 500 words)
  • Own opinion on this topic should be incorporated into the work by pointing out possible problems, suggesting solutions and pointing out additional possibilities (at least 200 words)
  • Emphasizing one's own opinion through short research and integration of sources and pictures in the report
  • The report shall be written in English or German
