Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

• design timetable sketches
• create track allocation plans
• design track diagrams
• design simple lines of a double-track and single-track line
• construct turnout connections
• generate and determine curvature images and perform the associated jerk checks
• create transverse profiles taking the clearance gauge into account
• develop longitudinal inclination of the track

Subject of course

Practicle use of the basics from lecture; - only available in german.

The exercise involves solving a scenario with various tasks. The solutions to the tasks are then presented and submitted in written form.

The following tasks are to be solved:

1. Timetable draft - Part 1: Calculation of blocking periods
2. Draft timetable - Part 2: Track layout + number of tracks
3. Track design - Part 1: Division railway station
4. Track design - Part 2: Track spacing and turnout dimensioning
5. Route design - Part 1: curved points + track connection
6. Routing design - Part 2: Transition bends, curvature bands + changes of slope

Teaching methods

Im Rahmen der Übung ist ein Szenario mit verschiedenen Aufgaben zu lösen. Die Lösungen der Aufgaben werden anschließend präsentiert und in schriftlicher Form abgegeben.

Die Übung wird in Teams von je 3 Personen abgehalten. Es besteht vollständige Anwesenheitspflicht zur Einführungsveranstaltung und zur Endpräsentation!

Zu den restlichen Terminen muss von jedem Team mindestens eine Person anwesend sein!
