After successful completion of the course, students are able to
- understand the links between rheology, spectroscopy and microscopy of viscoelastic, organic construction materials, using bitumen as an example.- interpret essential parameters for the description of these building materials- formulate own research questions for scientific studies (diploma thesis, dissertation)
Theoretical introduction (introductory lecture) with background on viscoelastic, organic building materials, rheology, spectroscopy and microscopy.Current research and findings in this fieldPractical work in the laboratory with bituminous materials incl. rheological analysis methods, various spectroscopic and microscopic methods for describing the mechanical behaviour, the chemical composition and the microstructureIn-depth data evaluation and interpretation
