The lecture series gives an overview of the many facets of (sub-)urban walking and cycling. Illustration of the (historic)evolution and today¿s significance as mode of transport, for leisure and in a social context.

The lecture series looks at (sub-)urban cycling from a multitude of viewpoints: The importance for a transport system of a city; planning for walking and cycling and design of riding and parking infrastructure; the history of cycling and bicycles; medical implications & safety; cultural importance and the state in society, and other topics.
