  • Create a digital terrain model

In the rail part:

  • Designing a simple alignment of a Double-Track Line
  • Construct a turnout connection in the straight line
  • Create and determine the curvature string
  • Develop a transverse profile and a bridge taking the structure gauge into account
  • Develop a gradient taking the terrain into account

In the street part:

  • Designing an axis
  • Develop a longitudinal profile with constraint points
  • Create a cross profile including structure, lanes, drainage, and routing directions
  • Provide evidence of the required overtaking and stopping distances

In the Evaluation section:

  • Evaluating the Mass Balance for Construction/Top Layers/Base courses
  • Visualize a 3D route

Subject of course

Demonstration of the software ProVI for design and construction of traffic routes. After an introduction, students elaborate a small project on their own. Afterwards, they present the project.

Teaching methods

  • Introduction to the usage of ProVI software
  • Joint development of a practice task
  • Independent design of a routing project and a special task
  • Presentation of the results
