As budgets are decreasing Pavement Maintenance is becoming more and more important in a nation economy. Experts in the road administration, construction companies, engineers and laboratories are dealing with this subject. Most of them have been urged to gain their knowledge by doing. The lecture addresses both the status of pavement (maintenance) management system and the project level of pavement maintenance in detail. It gives an overview on a very complex and interesting subject and provides the students with all the information necessary to work on the field of Pavement Maintenance. Finally also examples of working systems are presented

The lecture Pavement Maintenance Management is a guide to the theory and practice of pavement maintenance. The lecture does not deal with the subject of operational works like winter maintenance, drainage maintenance, mowing. Following topics are discussed: 1. Introduction to Pavement Maintenance Management Focus and Role of Pavement Maintenance Management, Basic Terminology, Standards 2. Key Elements of Pavement Management Systems Data Needs, Data Base Management, Evaluation of Pavement Condition, Pavement Performance, Optimization Models, Establishing Alternatives and Policies, Presentation of Results 3. Evaluation of Pavement Condition 4. Rehabilitation and Maintenance Strategies 5. Project Level: Material Testing, Structural Analysis, Contracting 6. Examples of PM-Systems
