Aim of course

The objective is to gain experience in the treatment of complex systems which are characterised by a vast number of interactions. Especially important are the social and ecological effects caused by the use of engineering methods and measures. As preparation for the professional life as a civil engineer real life problem should be solved or mitigated by the use of management methods and information technology. In addition to traditional transport planning measures telematics and transport management has to be considered.

Subject of course

The objective of the course project seminar is to develop knowledge in management issues, system thinking and analysis as well as experience in planning and designing, Transport planning is in close interaction with other disciplines in engineering as well as in other scientific areas. It is possible to carry out the course Interdisciplinary seminar focussing on transport planning. There are a lot of potential connections to other fields, from hydraulic engineering over economics to environmental science. If the chosen focus for the course project seminar is on other fields of civil engineering, it is also possible to use transport planning as an accompanying discipline.
