Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • demonstrate regional metabolisms
  • explicate thermal waste treatment plant
  • verify and optimise environmental impacts of thermal waste treatment plant
  • develop of energy and mass balances for thermal waste treatment plants
  • name and describe the sources and treatments of emissions of  thermal waste treatment plants
  • explain the treatment and final disposal of incineration residues

 

 

Subject of course

Goals of thermal waste treatment. Chemical and physical basics of incineration. Energy and material balances. Emissions. Deposition of residuals. Relevance for regional material balances. Environmental considerations regarding incineration plants. Innovative processes.

  • Lecture with discussions
  • Excursion to the MVA Pfaffenau on 28.11.2024 at 11:30 (optional, registering obligatory)
