Historical view on waste management and current situation: European and national laws and standards; waste types, amounts and properties; characterisation methods for waste (incl. sampling and sampling theory); important recycling and disposal technologies (thermal treatment, mechanical and biological treatment, recycling, and landfilling). In addition to technical aspects of waste management also economic and ecological aspects are presented and discussed.

The presentation of the content and goals of our Master's courses for the summer semester 2024 will take place on March 5th, 2024 from 09-9:30 a.m. in the seminar room AC 02 – 1UIW (Karlsplatz 13, 2nd floor, staircase 5). Participation in this presentation is not mandatory.

For a positive grading, both, the exercises (usually 4 different exercises) as well as the written exam, need to be passed. For the grading, the results of the exercises and the final exams are weighted in a ratio of 25:75.
