• recognize and understand the problems and characteristics of the anthropogenic metabolism.
• define and classify “resources”.
• apply the method of “Material Flow Analysis” (MFA) to create resource balances on different levels.
• use the MFA software STAN.
• model material systems dynamically.
• formulate problems and uncertainties that arise during the set up of resource balances, as further to locate and interpret differences between resource balances.

• Analysis of selected anthropogenic goods- and substance metabolisms,
• learning about phenomena and problems of the anthropogenic metabolism,
• evaluation of material flow analysis(MFA)-results,
• handling of data and uncertainty,
• design of systems according to the goals for an environmentally compatible regional mass balance,

The presentation of the content and goals of the Master's courses in our research area for the winter semester 2023 will take place on October 3, 2023, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. in the Seminarroom AA 03 – 1 CEE (Karlsplatz 13, staircase 1, 3rd floor). Participation is this presentation is not mandatory

Written exam and project work

 Important notes:

• Examinations can only be taken after course registration and must belong to the semester corresponding to the registration (see TISS examination information "Lecture semester"). In this respect, it is not possible to bring forward an exam that has been set up for previous semesters.
• After each completed exam, a certificate will be issued - if no exercise points have been achieved by then, the points from the exam will be the only assessment basis.
