Knowledge transfer for design and operation of mechanical-biological wastewater treatment plants with special focus on the activated sludge process (including membrane activated sludge process and fixed film processes). Emphasis is given to the scientific background and its application for process configuration development and operation modes.
Wastewater characterisation, basic biochemical processes, mass balances, kinetcs of biological processes, data base for design, design procedure for activated sludge processes, with special emphasis on nitrogen and phosphorus removal, other biological treatment processes (membrane bioreactors, biofilters), influence of sludge treatment on wastewater treatment, supernatant treatment.
