Practical experience with various measuring equipment.
Experimental course in the laboratory of the institute focussing on the following topics:
Neutralization; pH-measurement using different methods; Tillmann's equilibrium; chemical water- and wastewater analysis: adsorption to activated carbon; flocculation and precipitation; detoxification of heavy metals and cyanids.
Demonstration of advanced analytical technics (UV, AAS, ICP, HPLC etc.), microscopy and characterisation of activated sludge; stabilization of sludges, oxigen uptake measurements for carbon and nitrogen metabolism; measurement of the oxigenation capacity of aeration equipment.

Submission of a lab protocol with oral exam.
