Knowledge transfer for design and operation of mechanical-biological waste water treatment plants with special emphasis on the activated sludge process (including membrane activated sludge process and fixed film processes). Emphasis is given to the scientific background and its application for process configuration development and operation modes.
Waste water characterisation, basic biochemical processes, mass balances, kinetcs of biological processes, data base for design, design procedure for activated sludge processes, other biological treatment processes (Membranebioreactors, biofilters) with special emphasis on nitrogen and phosphorus removal, influence of sludge treatment on waste water treatment, supernatant treatment.
Lecture will be on Monday October 8 to December 17 2012. The contents of the lecture "Water Quality Management" (bachlor education) is a precondition for this lecture. The lecture by Dr. Frey (mechanical and electrical equipment of Waste water treatment plants) represents an excellent supplement. Attendence should be mailed to institute in advance.(reinisch@iwag.tuwien.ac.at)
