Additional information

he relatively young field has gained in importance in recent decades, both nationally and internationally (EU Water Framework Directive, UN Millennium goals), because the world population and thus agricultural production and industrialisation are constantly increasing, which is reflected in the increasing pollution of water resources. Water quality management has the task of bringing the quality of all waters to a good status or maintaining this status with the help of technical (purification measures) and organisational measures (control of material flows) so that in the long term no danger to people or the natural environment arises from polluted water. The supply of water to people and the disposal of wastewater, including wastewater treatment, are important parts of this field. Research and development require close links between engineering and natural sciences, but also with law and economics.

Examination modalities

Since June 2014, the proof of performance has been in written form. During the examination, the entire subject matter of the lecture is examined, with the emphasis on understanding the interrelationships and implementing the knowledge of the function in the design of the technical systems. Knowledge of the dimension (and magnitude) of parameters is important for this. The use of the correct terms and a good linguistic presentation are also important goals of the training.
