After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • to analyse waste management systems in developing countries
  • to apply the method of material flow analysis to waste management systems and to interpret the results

Subject of course

  • Introduction into technology transfer and solid waste management
  • Technical features of waste mangement in South Eastern Europe: waste collection systems, waste generation and composition patterns, waste disposal practices
  • EU legislation and the future of waste management in South Eastern Europe
  • Illustration and analysis of the status quo of solid waste management by material flow analysis (MFA): case study Serbia
  • Case studies on successful and unsuccessful technology transfer in the field of solid waste management in Serbia

Lectures and seminars by guest lecturers from Serbia: Prof. Goran Vujic und Prof. Nemanja Stanisavljevic (University of Novi Sad)
