Aim of the lecture is to increase the insight into interactions between manmade material fluxes, regional and local conditions and questions of resource and environmental protection in general and of water quality in particular. Further methodological approaches in case of problems related to this topic shall be learned.
Resource Management: Short introduction into material flow analysis and the most relevant assessment methods; handling of data uncertainty; compilation and assessment of an industrially relevant material. River basin management: After a short introduction into the topic of river basin management selected substances will be discussed in respect to their relevance for water quality. Main sources and pathways of emissions will be presented under consideration of different local conditions. Methods for the quantification of these substance flows will be presented. Finally based on specific case studies problems and possible solutions related to this topic will be shown.
