Aim of course

Students carry out a subject-specific case study applying technical software

Subject of course

Short introduction to the specific research disciplines and to the selected case studies; research disciplines are: hydrology, waste water treatment, waste and resource management; case studies are: simulation of floods applying R-statistic software (hydrology), simulation of biological degradation processes with Matlab/Simulink and simulation of the oxigen tranfer at activated sludge plants with the software SIMBA (waste water treatment), Material Flow Analyses of regions and companies with freeware STAN (waste and resource management); learning how to apply the software including the scientific background (models and methods); self-guided execution of one or several case studies; presentation and discussion of results
