Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • present own results in front of specialist audience.
  • defend own research results in a discussion with the audience.
  • compare different issues in the fields of resource management and waste management.
  • provide critical and analytical questions about lectures.
  • enter into a scientific discourse with specialist speakers.

Subject of course

The aim is to present own research results in front of a scientific audience. Furthermore, you discuss and defend the results with the audience. In those lectures where you are not presenting, you are part of the audience. Hence, you get to know different methods, problems, and solutions.

Teaching methods

The following methods are used in the course:

  • Hold a presentation about own research in front of specialist audience.
  • Discuss and defend own research results with the audience.
  • Specialist lectures on current issues in the fields of resource management and waste management
  • Discussion with experts on the basis of the lectures

Present own research

Own research results are presented in a 45-minute lecture and then discussed with the specialist audience.

Active participation in the discussion

As performance record, the students must be present and actively participate in the discussion. In the course, a presence of more than 80% of the dates is obligatory.

Previous knowledge

Prerequisite for participation is that a research project is currently being carried out or has already been completed. The results of this work has to be presented in a unit of the course. The research work must be related to the topic of resource management and waste management. The lecture can either be held in German or English. Students with little knowledge of German can attend and complete the course.
