The preliminary discussion to the courses takes place on Monday, 1. Oct. 2018, 10:00-11:00 am, Seminar room 264/1 (Karlsgasse 13, 1. floor) The participation is not mandatory.

Presence (at least 80 % of the lectures; maximum 2/12 missed lectures), participation in discussions, written essay (2000-2200 words). Evaluation of the essay considers form and content.

The report should be around 2000-2200 words and include a title page (name and student ID), graphs, tables and references. Text formatting: Arial, font size 12, line spacing 1,5. Language: German or English
Please take care of the precise and consistent referencing of all sources (within the text and in the reference list).
Content
In the written essay, you should discuss the topic of one lecture held in the seminar.
This includes an introduction (~ summary of the lecture), the use of secondary literature and a critical discussion of the topic.
Possible discussion points: Are the assumptions of the lecturer transparent and comprehensible? Do you agree with the assumptions of the lecturer? Which conclusions can be drawn from the lecturer's assumptions? Does the lecture raise any further scientific questions?

Assessment
The overall grade consists of the positive attendance of the lectures (in case of absence, please contact the assistants in advance) and the submission of the essay (1/3 form, 2/3 content).
No prior knowledge needed.
Guest lectures will be generally in German, some also in English. Students with low German skills can visit the lecture.
