After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe the concepts and tools for quantifying the risk of civil engineering systems (failure probabilities and the associated consequences). Students can calculate failure probabilities, such as the likelihood of failure of a building due to earthquakes, or its inundation by floods, and the costs of the failure.
