Aim of course

Das Lehrziel besteht in der Erarbeitung spezieller Kenntnisse auf dem Sektor der Betonbruchmechanik und der Behandlung von Schadensfällen in massigen Betonbauwerken, wobei insbesondere eine konstruktive und materialspezifische Betrachtungsweise zur Vermeidung von Rissen vermittelt werden soll.

Subject of course

Fracture mechanics methods concerning cracking in massive concrete structures (dams, weirs, lock chamber walls, etc.) are presented. The determination of specific fracture mechanics material properties is demonstrated and the field of the application of these methods in view of damage prevention, damage assessment and repair is discussed. In particular, the cases of damage events of two Austrian dams are treated in detail.
