Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • assess natural hazards and to name protective measures,
  • describe methods of special foundation engineering,
  • design anchors and nails according to Eurocode,
  • explain the basics of soil dynamics,
  • describe machine-integrated systems for compaction control,
  • estimate the possibilities for the use of geothermal energy and to describe methods,
  • name possible applications of geosynthetics,
  • explain statistical methods and optimization tasks in geotechnics.

Subject of course

Based on the course Ground Engineering and Soil Mechanics, in-depth knowledge is imparted, particularly in the areas of natural hazards, foundation engineering, soil dynamics, geothermal energy, geosynthetics and design.

Teaching methods

On the basis of practice-oriented lectures by national and international experts, students will acquire in-depth knowledge of soil mechanics and ground engineering.
