Aim of course

Development of ground investigation and soil testing programmes considering the interaction ground-structure. Latest technologies in ground engineering. Advanced applicaiton of geotechnics in environmental and infrastructure projects in hydro-/hydraulic engineering, in structural engineering, for industrial plants etc.

Subject of course

Details to laboratory and field tests and their borders of application. Lectures about special technologies: Observational method; pipe jacking (micro tunnelling; trenchless technologies); underground structures, deep soil improvement, soil stabilisation with lime and cement etc., retaining structures, prestressed anchors, grouting, tunnel support, geotechnical in situ measurements, landslides, ground freezing, geosynthetics. Geotechnics for ground rehabilitiation and new engineered landfills, for road and railways, for hydro structures, flood protection etc. Geophysical investigations. Case histories
