Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to distinguish, read and interpret geological data from a geological section and to classify rock mass using different guidelines (ÖGG, RMR, Q-System). 

Subject of course

Part 1: Identifying & reading geological data from a geological section and its interpretation (presentation of geological data, clarification of geological conditions, defining geological/geotechnical basics).

Part 2: Rock mass classification using different guidelines (ÖGG, RMR, Q-System).

Teaching methods

Introduction and explanation of the task. 

Independent elaboration of a given example within an appointed period.
