2013W, VU, 1.5h, 2.0EC

Properties

  • Semester hours: 1.5
  • Credits: 2.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise

Aim of course

An important theme of the course is the design of structures (according to the philosophy of Eurocode 7) to control mudflows, rock falls and avalanches and the stabilisation of rapid earth flows.

Subject of course

There is relatively little information in the national and European standards about actions (loadings) on control structures due to natural hazards. When the usual soil mechanics calculation methods are used, it is easy to make serious misinterpretations ofthe safety level.
