The lecture will provide the students with the skills for conceptual design, analysis and execution of steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete and composite bridges.
History of bridge costruction. Fundamentals concerning the planning, analysis, construction, aesthetics of bridges. Typical problems of bridge construction are illustrated considering planned and / or built structures. All current steel, concrete and composite bridge systems are discussed. Besides the spectacular great constructions, particular importance is given to small bridges: such bridges have their specific problems and easily can be encountered by young engineers both in a planning office and on site.
A lecture on Concrete Bridges in English will be held in the summer term at the Department for Structural Concrete.
