Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to explain and apply current standards for the design and calculation of concrete constructions. By designing a actual structure for the Tutorial project, the students are able to dimension a concrete construction project relevant to practice. They can also create a full static report and formwork and reinforcement plans.

Subject of course

A reinforced concrete structure will be designed and calculated according to the valid standards. Following structures have been designed in the past: Diving tower, observation tower, tower for wind turbines with H>60m, frame for a sportstand roofing, frame for an industrial hall, shed roof, avalanche barrier, tennis hall, prestressed concrete bridge, etc.)

Teaching methods

Deepening the knowledge that has been learned in the accompanying lectures by solving calculation examples. A practice-oriented design construction project is worked on independently with supervision.

Examination modalities

Three tests are held during the winter semester. In order to pass the tutorial two of the three tests have to be participated in, with the third one serving as a replacement date. The duration of each test is 105 minutes.

The final grade comprises of the two best results of the three possible tests in combination with the grade of the construction project.

In order to participate in the tutorial a registration in the groups is necessary. To participate in the first two tests please register in group “Anmeldung für 1. und 2. Übungstest” (this group will be open until 14.10.2020 (12:00 PM). If you are not registered by this time you will not be able to participate in the tutorial. To participate in the 3rd Test please register in the group “Anmeldung für den 3.Übungstest”. If you are not registered you will not receive a Testpamphlet and will therefore not be able to participate.

SUBMISSION OF THE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT: 28.04.2021 15:00 PM After this time no construction project will be excepted

Examination regulations:

Examination relevant subject areas for the tests:

1st test: all previous tutorial sessions

2nd test: all previous tutorial session except the ones already tested on the 1st test

3rd test: the entire scope

 

The following tools and documents are permitted during the tests:

Calculator, lecture script (current version: October 2013, older scrips are not permitted) as well as the Eurocode 2 (current version: ÖNORM EN 1992-1-1 and ÖNORM B 1992-1-1) and a calculator. Coefficients from the national annex may be transferred to the main document (ÖNORM EN 1992-1-1). Flagging or highlighting of various pages is allowed. The script from the tutorial (Übungsskriptum), other documents as for example “Bautabellen”, prewritten calculating “recipes” or self-made formularies are NOT permitted. Various writing utensils (pens, pencils, and colored pens), a protractor as well as a calculator are recommended.
