Subject of course

Climate change and its associated consequences represent one of the greatest global challenges of the present and the future. The building industry in particular plays a major role here, as it is responsible for around 40% of emissions, 40% of final energy consumption, and the majority of resource consumption and waste production. Climate protection can therefore only work if the ecologization of the building sector progresses.

The course "Ecological Building Technologies 2" provides students with in-depth knowledge of ecological constructions made of clay, straw and wood, and goes into details about greening buildings. The basics of recycling in construction and the use of renewable energies in buildings are also taught. The course content is presented both frontally and discussed interactively with the students. The lecture units are supplemented by an exercise in which the students optimize an example building ecologically and carry out a hygrothermal simulation of a structure.

Teaching methods

Lectures on various topics of ecological constructions with interactive elements. The lecture takes place in presence.

The lecture units are supplemented by an exercise in which students are asked to optimize a given example building ecologically and analyze it hygrothermally. The programs eco2soft and WUFI pro are used for this.
