Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to communicate and present their research/project results to a broad audience (scientific/ industrial), for both their professional and academic careers. In particular, this workshop will train them to communicate in an effective and clear way, deal with nerves during public speaking and hold the interest of the listener (i.e. body language, captive slides, voice tone…).

Subject of course

This workshop introduces methods for presenting with impact, putting the students at the center of the scene of public speaking. Students will develop their presentation skills ranging from posture and voice tone to the slide design.

 

Teaching methods

The workshop will be held in English and will be divided into three half days with individual student work on presentations. During the workshop, active participation of the students is required to present themselves, formulate and receive constructive feedback.

  • The workshop language is English.
  • This workshop is a free elective course.
  • The workshop is organized in three half days (8.30 am-12.30 am), the first two being consecutive and the third one after a week. During the break week, the students should individually work on their presentation skills. The date will be confirmed soon, planned in May-June 2021.
  • Depending on the corona situation this workshop will be held in presence in Science Center OC or via Zoom.
  • A maximum of 12 students is required for this workshop.
