Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

... describe the key parameters, planning and construction process and methods of analysis.

... program and validate simple calculations and simulation tools in the area of structural engineering, building physics, building technology, electricity, district heating, district cooling or gas networks and mobility services.

... describe the numerical methods for calculating the built environment (buildings and infrastructures).

Subject of course

Sustainability as a guiding principle in the development of the built environment; Changes in energy and mobility consumption behaviour and technological changes in the energy system; Parameters for thermal, acoustic, visual comfort and air quality in buildings; Risk management (structural failure, moisture damage, fire, earthquake, ...); Calculation and simulation methods for forecasting building behaviour and infrastructure utilization; Visualization as a central component for strategic planning; design; construction and maintenance and recycling of the built environment;
