Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to solve civil engineering problems of kinematics, hydrostatics- and dynamics, and kinetics of solid structures, and to develope computer-oriented mechanical modells.

Subject of course

Mechanical stress, deformations and strains, law of elasticity, elastic deflection curve. Hydrostatic uplift, resulting hydrostatic forces. Application of the principle of virtual displacements. Kinematics and kinetics of the mass point, the rigid body and of fluids. Conservation of momentum, conservation of angular momentum. Energy theorem, Bernoulli’s equation of hydrodynamics. Linear vibrations of both SDOFs and MDOFs.
