Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course, students are able to put the teaching content into practice, as eg. Introduction (development und use of pipeline steels, damages, causes and avoidance, types of defects and evaluation, crack-arrest, corrosion, and defect analysis), materials for pipelines (high strength and corrosion resistant steels and their use), weldability and heat treatments (base material und welds) in pipeline engineering, welding technological, mechanical-technological, fracture mechanical, and material physical examinations (cracks in welds), projecting (design, calculation, and construction of welded pressure equipment), building and operation of pipelines (economical considerations and weld repairs) for on- and offshore pipelines, quality management reports for building natural gas pipelines, numerous examples (pressure vessels, chemical plants, pipelines, ships, and offshore technology), possibility to visit a pipeline construction site and performances (arc cutting, brazing, plasma welding, submerged arc welding, resistance welding, friction welding, laser welding, other welding processes)
