Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

... name the components of the energy system and measure sufficiency; Indicate efficiency and consistency increase.
... identify the planning and construction methods (lighting, ventilation, heating, cooling, transportation, use) of buildings related to sustainability and energy efficiency and to apply simplified methods in their field of study.
... know key energy figures and calculate them in a team
... understand the European and national framework of thermal and energetic developments in existing buildings.

Subject of course

Summary: Basic concepts for climate protection and conversion chains in energy use in buildings, factors influencing the energy consumption of buildings, user comfort Heat flows through the building envelope, thermal insulation, windows and glazing, daylighting and sun protection Ventilation and air conditioning, passive house concept Heating and cooling: soil as heat source, Solar energy use in buildings, heat and cold storage, heat pumps, solar cooling, combined heat and power (CHP) and combined heat and power (CHP) Examples of realized system concepts, concepts for energy-efficient construction.

An important teaching tool for the LV is the MOOC "Smart Cities"
www.e-genius.at/mooc

As part of the course, the protyp of an interdisciplinary planning environment is used for a practical task.
