Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to put the teaching content into practice, as eg. Behaviour and design of welded structures under different loads (static, dynamic, cyclic), design of welded pressure equipment, introduction in fracture mechanics, basics and definitions of fracture mechanics (linear elastic and elasto plasic), standardized fracture mechanics testing procedures and corresponding results, possibilities to use fracture mechanics in civil engineering by the demonstration of examples (steel, glass, wood, plastics, and so on), mechanism of collapse, fatigue, determination of fatigue limits, testing of components, operational stability.
