Aim of course

Training in the field of building physics takes in consideration the fact , that the importance of the building physics increases in the last year to meet further commitments. Building physics is concerning with processes and states which define the comfort, health, hygiene, durability and sustainability of buildings and construction measures. Many performance methods neglect the unsteady character of processes and the interaction to each other. The simplification of the processes leads to wrong construction measures. To improve buildings on a level of low energy house, passive house and zero energy house are better evaluation methods necessary. The lessons should be deepen the knowledge of the students to handle importance problems like design of the indoor air quality, a all year thermal performance of buildings, the weather protection of exterior elements and the moisture load of constructions by arising moisture. They should learn to apply modeling and simulation methods to perform a good efficiency of buildings.

Subject of course

The lecture is a continuation of the basic lecture "Building Physics 1" and is dealing with special problems of building physics like ISO standardization, heat bridges, unsteady heat transfer, selected problems of the humidity protection, interaction of heat and moisture transfer and performance of buildings components (walls, ceilings, roofs, foundation, framework) and performance of towns under the point of view of building physics.Abilities and skills are trained in the lab practices starting from the teaching level in the lessons. They participants have to learn to use modern software to solve building physics problems. The teaching is based of the present state of knowledge, the newest scientific findings and technical achievements. An experimental and technical training in the lab should be deepen the acquired knowledge and support the skills for inspection and evaluation of building physical processes and affairs.
