After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe rock mechanical problems and solutions in current construction projects in alpine terrain and to recognize the hazards of gravitational mass movements (rockfall, debris flows, etc.).
Inspection of mass movements in high alpine terrain; identification of structures and the mechanisms that can be derived from them; visits to foundation, tunnel and gallery construction sites.
Presentation and discussion of case studies
