Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to solve computational exercises that require an understanding of the fundamental concepts of continuum mechanics and strength of materials. 

Subject of course

Euqilibrium on three-dimensional continuum, Stress tensor, strength criteria, strain tensor, principal of virtual power, work/energy/elasticity, basics of beam theory, loss of stability

Teaching methods

online lectures; videos with an introduction to the lectures topics; presentation of full-text lecture notes with formulae and numerical exercises; online interactive questioning; smaller groups are also allowed at the institute for questions (only with advanced notification)

Two online-exams. In total, at least 50% of the points are required for passing.

Participation in the substitute exam is ONLY possible when missing one of previous two regular exams.
