In this course, the focus is placed on the design of timber structures. This encompasses the choice of the structural system as well as the selection of specific types of connections. The personal ability to assess different types of alternative structural systems of timber structures in terms of structural calculations will be trained. Design projects are complementing theoretical lectures.
The course encompasses the following thematic issues:
In a design project, alternative structural systems (global structural system and connections) will be designed, calculated using engineering design software, and critically analyzed.
