After successful completion of the course, students are able to derive the basic equations of the finite element method, to discuss relationships between key parameters and to competently evaluate the results of finite element calculations.
Capacity of FEM; equations of motion for finite elements; shell elements; numeric integration; MATLAB-codes for FEM; commercial codes for FEM
Structured lectures based on Powerpoint presentations, in coordination with the existing written teaching materials. Program implementation of a small finite element code. Application examples with commercial finite element software.
Due to the increasing interest in this lecture and simultaneous limited human and room resources, this lecture is prior offered to master students, whom may sign in with mid of august. An approval for bachelor students is possible with mid of september (Sept 16,2019, 09:00), if free places are still available. Please note that registering for the course is indispensible.
For the exercises basic computation skills using MATLAB are required. A short introduction for MATLAB is provided. Neithertheless, visiting the lecture Programmieren im Bauingenieurwesen Einführung und Grundlagen (see accompagnied LVA) is recommended.
Assignment to masters programme Civil Engineering (code: 066 505): Modulus 1 of specialization "Theorie und Simulation"; Modulus 3 of other specialization programs.
The first Lecture will be on October 10, 2019.
written exam (if necessary also oral exams)
Registration is required for the lecture as well as for each exercise. For each exercise unit, two dates are available due to limited room capacity.
The student has to be enrolled for at least one of the studies listed below
Lecture notes for this course are available and will be distributed via TUWEL.
