After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • Learn international policy frameworks for AI policy
  • Learn international institutions involved with AI policy
  • Develop analytic skills for AI policy
  • Develop ability to identify AI policy news, public comment opportunities, and events
  • Assess emerging AI policy controversies, including social scoring, facial surveillance, and lethal autonomous weapons
  • Undertake empirical research on national AI policies and practices
  • Assess AI policy instruments
  • Provide recommendations for future work in the field

The AI Policy Clinic is an intensive, interdisciplinary, semester-long course, established to teach future leaders AI policy analysis, research, and evaluation. Topics covered include AI History, AI Issues and Institutions,  AI Regulation, and Research Methods.

The course combines lectures, discussions, and practical exercise.

This is a guest professor course of the TU Wien Informatics Doctoral School.

The course is open to all PhD students and interested Master students.
