***Content decription***
In the first part of the course, the students will develop a deeper understanding about innovation in the context of markets and organizations and how leadership affects innovation.
The second part will deal with how leadership and corporate culture affect innovation. The objective of this section is to clarify the typical misunderstandings of innovation, to learn how to avoid the most common traps in innovation management as well as to understand the various types of innovation. Through a mixture of theories, practical exercises and the analysis of examples, the attendees will develop a deeper understanding about the risk and opportunities associated with the various types of innovation. At the end of the first two parts, the students will be able to level any knowledge needed to explore yet unknown innovation opportunities.
The third part of the course will focus on the effective management of innovation and on different methods and tools for successful management. The attendees will understand the do's and don'ts for an effective management of innovation and learn how to drive it from a leadership position. In particular, the students will experience how to develop and operationalize a sustainable innovation strategy, discover how to establish appropriate organizational settings that help to foster innovations and learn how to speed up the implementation of innovations.
The last part of the course will address the question of how to effectively position innovations in the market. The attendees will learn how to identify and communicate the business value of innovations and understand how to make innovation attractive to the market.
Methods:
The lectures will mix theoretical input with hands on exercises and experiences as well as group discussions. In addition, the attendees will learn about effective tools underpinned by a proven blueprint for practical work on innovation. The students will reconsider his or her own personal approach of being an effective leader of innovation activities and develop an own individual roadmap for implementing innovations.
***Lecturers***
Thomas Peruzzi founded aicooma in Austria, Switzerland and Germany and built it from scratch till earn-out in 2012. He then rejoined University in York for a second Master Study and took over several interims C*O positions in digital startups like laterpay or gigaset elements. Beside that he angel-invested in digital startups like getwiser, spireglobal, adespresso and advised emerging startups with his strong product and Technology background. He is boardmember of Crate and Advisory Board member of admoment, meinkauf, laterpay, refz.co and roq.ad. Thomas lectures Innovation Management and Technology Leadership and is a respected speaker for European Corporates with regards to lean product management and how to avoid the innovator's dilemma. International VCs and corporate ventures trust his view on technology during due diligence processes.
