- find broad, major research questions which will become relevant in the next 5-10 years- based on dissertation topics/results of the participants- mutual review, refinement of questions, presentation- discussion, consensus on most important research questions
Course structure----------------Part 1: questions------------------- Students develop future relevant research questions based on their dissertation- work in pairs (students form pairs or certain combinations (of areas) are forced)- questions need to feature aspects of the phd work of both students, possibly combined- important: broad questions, understandable to non-experts of particular CS area- short summary of their proposals ("a few pages")Part 2: review---------------- student pairs review other students' questions, suggestions for improvement- students revise their questions based on feedbackPart 3: presentation and discussion------------------------------------ students give a presentation on revised questions- final discussion: all participants try to reach a consensus on the 3-5 most important future reserach questions/directions among all that were presented- discussion should take place at a later date than presentations, to let ideas "sink in" first
