After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

• support high school students (‘mentees’) in the realisation of their VWA in the field of computer science
• act as mentors for mentees and support them during the VWA writing process for one year (VWA Mentoring II in the winter semester)
• learn and apply new coaching, communication and counselling skills
• self-critically reflect on the experiences of the VWA mentoring course and the meetings with the mentees
• respond individually to the needs of the assigned mentees

• Introduction to the concept of pre-scientific work (VWA) and its importance to high school students (mentees)
• Training in counselling techniques for effective collaboration with mentees
• Familiarisation with communication skills and teamwork in the mentoring process
• Review of the basics of academic work
• Reflection and feedback on own mentoring experience

• Workshops and presentations to convey the content
• Group work and discussions for reflection and exchange of experiences
• Individual mentoring sessions with the mentees
• Self-reflection and feedback sessions to improve coaching skills

This course will be continued in VWA Mentoring II in the winter semester which must be attended.

The ECTS breakdown for this course is as follows:

    15 hours: Classroom sessions to teach the content
    25 hours: Preparation and implementation of mentoring sessions and support for mentees in VWA development
    10 hours: Reflection and feedback on the mentoring experience and writing the documentation

• Writing documentation on the planning and course of the meetings with mentees
• Reflection report

Was muss ich tun um Mentor_in zu werden?

Du solltest erste Erfahrungen mit wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten mitbringen. Daher ist es für diese LVA keine Anmeldung, sondern eine kurze Bewerbung per Email an die LVA-Leitung vorgesehen:

Bewerbungsfrist: bis 01.03.2024

Nach Ablauf der Bewerbungsfrist werden alle Bewerbungen gesichtet und Zu-/Absagen ausgeschickt.

Wichtig: Diese LVA (VWA Mentoring I) wird im Wintersemester in VWA Mentoring II fortgeführt und soll auch in beiden Semestern absolviert werden. Daher wirst du nach 2 Semestern und positiver Absolvierung auch mit insgesamt 4 ECTS (2+2) belohnt.
