After successful completion of the course, students are able to have basic knowledge of the essential IT systems and IT infrastructures, the special requirements in design and implementation (medical environment, usability, communication, and data exchange, data protection and data security) and thus basic skills for responsible handling of medical data.
In addition, a graduate of this module is able to critically consider such information systems in their entirety and to actively participate in the design of these systems (individually and in combination).
The responsible research group teaches engineering perspectives. Didactically, this means for the present LVA: Teaching of the necessary technical basics, definition and delimitation of terms, guidance for situational research in case of need for more in-depth knowledge, presentation of real, often large case studies in the context of the lecture, independent elaboration, testing and experience in concept formations, sub-projects and applications in the field of eHealth appropriate for the LVA as part of the exercise.
Estimated effort (ECTS Breakdown):
Preliminary meeting: 2hLecture units: 24hExercise elaborations:: 134hPresentation of results incl. elaboration: 20h
---------------------------------------------------Total: 180 hours (6 ECTS)
In the lecture exercise, the necessary technical basics are taught, instructions are given for further research if more in-depth knowledge is required, and real, often large case studies are presented. In the practical exercises, in addition to the theoretical content of the lecture, different aspects of information systems and IT infrastructures in healthcare are further deepened or independently expanded in an exercise environment.
