Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  1. Independently read scientific literature in the area of software engineering, specifically in software reliability
  2. Evaluate research papers in software engineering and identify limitations and areas of improvement
  3. Present complex technical topics to a broad audience

Subject of course

The goal of this seminar is to introduce students to important research results in the area of software reliability, and in particular, program analysis, software engineering, and software security of regular software, machine-learning models, and smart contracts. To achieve this, the students will study, present, and discuss research papers in the area.

During this seminar, the students will

  • become familiar with a broad range of key research results in the area of software reliability,
  • learn how to read and understand papers in the area,
  • learn how to evaluate papers in the area by highlighting limitations and suggesting possible improvements,
  • learn how to present a technical topic in the area to an audience of peers.
