Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  1. Independently read scientific literature in the area of software engineering.
  2. Evaluate research papers in software engineering and identify limitations and areas of improvement.
  3. Present complex technical topics orally and in writing.

Subject of course

The goal of this seminar is to introduce students to important research results in the area of software engineering, and in particular, program analysis, software reliability, and program synthesis. To achieve this, the students will study, present, and discuss research papers in the area.

During this seminar, the students will

  • become familiar with a broad range of key research results in the area of software engineering and verification,
  • learn how to read and understand papers in the area,
  • learn how to evaluate papers in the area by highlighting limitations and suggesting possible improvements,
  • learn how to present (both orally and in writing) and discuss with peers a technical topic in the area.
