After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

- apply the basics and fundamentals of interface and interaction design in practice
- gather and analyze needs and requirements of target user groups
- design and develop a prototype using a user centered design process
- iteratively refine, improve and expand the interactive prototype
- present and communicate the design- and development process effectively.

This course is an adjunct to the course VU Interface & Interaction Design (183.289) and provides the opportunity to apply the acquired foundational knowledge in the areas of design and human computer interaction in a practical design project. The elaboration is done in small groups. The assignment is to develop a detailed design concept (consisting of a paper, interactive prototype and/or video) in a user centered design process. Regularly scheduled workshops throughout the course provide an opportunity for discussion and feedback.

Identifying a user group and gathering its requirements.
Creation of mockups and wireframes to develop an interactive prototype from the concept stage.
Iterative improvement and refinement of the prototype based on feedback from workshops.
