After successful completion of the course, students are able to participate in the daily work in a high performance computation center, i.e. to fulfill relevant tasks in the area of networks, server and storage provision and monitoring.
Please note that this course will be offered for the first time in the summer semester 2024 and is experimental in nature. Participating students are therefore asked to bring a certain degree of (time) flexibility with them.
The main contents are:
In this internship, students come into practical contact with the following technologies, among others: Platform as a service, VMware, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Firewall as a service, FC networks, Wifi networks, network operations center, SAN technology, etc.
Personal tutoring by the experts of TU.it. Participation takes place on a monthly basis in various TU Informatics teams. The evaluation is qualitative and is based on direct discussions between the course instructor and the supervisors of the participating students.
This is what ChatGPT has to say on the work in a computation center (as of Jan 13, 2024): "A computation center serves as a hub for processing and managing vast amounts of data through advanced computing technologies. It houses high-performance servers, storage systems, and networking infrastructure, facilitating complex computations, simulations, and data analytics. These centers play a crucial role in scientific research, data-driven decision-making, and innovation across various fields. They often support tasks like weather modeling, genetic research, artificial intelligence, and more. Security measures are paramount to protect sensitive information, making computation centers integral to advancing technology, scientific discovery, and addressing complex challenges in fields ranging from healthcare to engineering."
If interested, please register and send a direct e-mail to the supervisor.
