Subject of course

The course will start by introducing the fundamental philosophical aspects with respect to morality and the role of science and technology in society. Building on these, core concepts and methods of RRI will be introduced and applied to assess a wide range of controversial technology trends.

Teaching methods

Building on the material presented and discussed in class, students will develop a fictional project as part of the practical part. They will develop a Design Fiction in which they describe a potential technological innovation in the form of a (as-if-true) research paper. They then will assess their fiction from RRI perspectives and write a critical essay on the potential impacts on society and the environment.
