This course has emerged from the Welcome.TU.Code initiative of the Faculty of Informatics of TU Wien: https://informatics.tuwien.ac.at/welcome-tu-code/ In the context of this initiative, we have been organising computer courses on different levels for young refugees since the winter term 2015. Also this semester, we are planning a computer course for young unaccompatnied refugees in cooperation with the Red Cross.
Since the winter term 2021, we have been additionally offering courses and small workshops for educationally alienated youths in collaboration with the City of Vienna. Since then, we have organised every semester courses in the WUK work.space, see e.g.: https://www.wuk.at/magazin/383-quintillionen-jahre/ Since the summer term 2022, we have been organizing such courses also with the "Sprungbrett für Mädchen und junge Frauen" (https://sprungbrett.or.at/). Moreover, in the summer term 2024, we are planning to organize a computer course for displaced people from Ukraine for the third time.
Details on the various courses planned in the context of this lecture (and also lecture 192.058) will be presented in the first class on Tuesday, March 5th.
The assessment is based on the quality of the preparation and of the teaching. There is no exam. This course is coupled with the course "192.058 IT Projekte für Jugendliche, UE 1.5 ECTS", for which nol extra registration is required. Students usually get a certificate for both courses (4.5 ECTS in total). Details will be provided in the first class.
